Starting my role as Product Lead, focusing on an entirely new BoligPortal experience

BoligPortal Pro

The product I’m currently focusing on at work is an experience designed for professional landlords, with the goal of enabling them to manage their entire business on one platform. As a company, BoligPortal wants to be more than just a marketplace. We aim to provide value not only when landlords need to find a new tenant, but also throughout the period that tenants live in their rentals.

When colleagues become customers

As a marketplace company like BoligPortal, you handle high traffic volumes, extensive approval processes to validate data and users, and specific requirements that off-the-shelf software cannot meet. The Customer Service department manages these processes. Because Customer Service handles complex, case-specific issues every day, we developed a custom in-house system for the department. It allows us to tailor each workflow and process to its specific needs.

Moving into my first lead position, switching from BoligPortal to another company, and then returning. Plus a few side projects.

Self-service for healthcare personnel

As part of expanding its product portfolio, Visikon wanted to give healthcare professionals control over creating, managing, and distributing healthcare information. The goal was to provide self-service tools while maintaining the high content standards established by Visikon’s communication experts and animators.

Battling navigation problems

Being able to find the information you need when dealing with a health issue is extremely important. Mit Forløb gives patients access to information about their health conditions and procedures at their own pace. They can return to read, watch, or listen to the material whenever they are unsure about something.

A step toward transforming BoligPortal from an advertising marketplace into an administration platform is to manage and control one of the most important aspects of a landlord’s business: collecting rent from tenants.

From three products to one platform

Merging three separate products into one platform that solves the same set of problems is surprisingly complex, especially when one of those products is a market leader with more than 20 years of history.

I didn’t like our stovetop...

...especially its interactions: all the repetitive clicks and having to hold down buttons for several seconds to complete a simple task. It made me wonder how such products are designed. This is my take on how to quickly prototype and iterate on a physical product like a stove using digital tools.

Features I wished my robot vacuum had

I got a robot vacuum from Roborock—it’s awesome! However, there are a few features I wish it had. I discovered them after I started working from home again and wanted to use my Apple Watch more instead of my phone. As someone who builds digital products, I often think, “How would such a feature work?” So, I did a bit of concept work.

Supporting the industry during COVID

When COVID-19 hit Denmark, the rental industry started to see some problems. Landlords and tenants were afraid about going to property showings, because of the health risks. Besides that, people were staying indoors and going out to new places, weren’t in the biggest of interests.

During the COVID lockdown in Denmark, my girlfriend and I got quite into making homemade pizza. The nerd within me wanted to take this new hobby to the next level so I decided to do some research.

Design system: Creation & maintenance

During my time at BoligPortal, I led the product/design process of creating a design system that would lay the interactive and style foundation of a new platform we were building. A universal platform that had the scope of combining three different products. This write-up will go through the process from scoping and finding the goal of this system, to how we kept it up to date and iterated each development sprint after introduction.

Apple Watch Grocery shopping

This all started with a personal problem I experienced when buying an Apple Watch. While planning my grocery shopping for the week I use an app called ShopGun, where it’s easy to pick items from different advertisement catalogs and add them to a ‘’to-do list’’ you can use when shopping.

We had a problem where users had a hard time understanding which searches criteria they were currently seeing, and therefore confused about the listing of properties.
